The new MCBW 2020 Website has gone live

The application stage for Program Partners of the 9th MUNICH CREATIVE BUSINESS WEEK (MCBW), the largest event of its kind in Germany which will take place from March 7 to 15, 2020 has begun – designers, architects, companies, organizations and institutions can register at www.mcbw.de between now and October 20, 2019.

MCBW, organized by bayern design, takes places in the first quarter of every year and is the platform in Germany for the design and economic sectors to connect and jointly offer new local, regional and global impulses for the centers of creativity of Munich and Bavaria. The motto of the next MCBW edition also will be Design connects and will drive outstanding and moving design topics. A special focus will be on SUSTAIN BY DESIGN. Dr. Silke Claus, Managing Director of bayern design, the organizer of MCBW, explains: “Design and the economic sector rely on each other more than ever, creating topical solutions, solving problems, and developing sustainable models for tomorrow. Good design drives  ecologic, economic and social sustainability. We cordially invite our Program Partners to present their inspiring perspectives on SUSTAIN BY DESIGN to professionals and fans of design at MCBW 2020 and we look forward to a sustainable exchange.”

The future is not conceivable without sustainability. Against this background, the SUSTAIN BY DESIGN focal theme will include topic clusters for MCBW Program Partners including the future of innovation, digitization, communication, work, urban areas, and fashion. “From design-driven innovations in the start-up culture and New Works’ approaches to design thinking to urban planning, our topic clusters aim to inspire our Program Partners,” says Dr. Claus.

Landshut is MCBW’s new Regional Partner

The region of Landshut in Lower Bavaria is the Regional Partner of MCBW 2020/21. The partnership is sponsored by the district of Lower Bavaria, the municipality of Landshut, the City of Landshut, the cooperation initiative Silicon Vilstal, and Niederbayern-Forum. The region is characterized by great business dynamics and has introduced a number of creative impulses which will be presented to the public as part of the MCBW regional partnership. Connecting businesses, creative people and the cultural sector beyond regional borders is another key objective.

MCBW is the long week of design

The most recent edition of MCBW in March of 2019 included 215 events and more than 120 Program Partners who delivered a vibrant, congenial and future-oriented nine-day design event. More than 70,000 visitors took advantage of the substantial opportunities to transfer knowledge and explore inspiring design experiences offered in two programs, CREATE BUSINESS! for professionals and DESIGN SCHAU! for all others interested in design.

At CREATE BUSINESS!, design can be experienced as a driver of innovation and an active/creative and humane influence on change: Big ideas, sustainable trends, and new products will be presented at conferences, symposiums, workshops, receptions, and many other events. Business contacts, the transfer of know-how, and lively discussions among corporate and design sector participants and among a variety of creative disciplines including design, branding and architecture will be fostered.

At DESIGN SCHAU!, design lovers can experience, sample, and understand high-quality design in all its facets directly on site. Exhibitions, vernissages and other events and initiatives about design culture including architecture originating in Bavaria and the rest of the world will take place at more than 150 locations around Munich and Bavaria.
