Design Hop| The 2016 Dashilar Design Community Project Launched

On the afternoon of June 15, the 2016 Dashilar Design Community was officially launched at the first project presentation meeting for the 2016 Beijing Design Week.

Guang'an Holding Beijing Dashilar Investment Limited launched the Dashilar renovation program in 2011 to hold Dashilar Alley (renamed as the "Dashilar Design Community" in 2015), a Design Hop event, in partnership with Beijing Design Week annually, where excellent design and arts projects from home and abroad are invited to Dashilar to let visitors experience the unique charm of old blocks, allowing the successful fusion of the old neighborhood and new designs, while bringing new ideas for renovation and revitalization of historical and cultural blocks, i.e., exploring new uses of old houses on condition that the landscape of these old blocks is respected, and introducing new business operations by leveraging the power of design.

2016 Dashilar Design Community


As the first old town renovation project leveraging design to revitalize an old neighborhood, Dashilar will hold a range of activities, including opening ceremony, theme exhibition, theme forum, COMmunity@Dashilar, and Design Hop during this year's design week in an effort to continue to drive a new model of organic renovation and soft growth for historical and cultural blocks.

#1 Dashilar Pilot


There are more smart things to do in how to live better at Hutongs so as to ensure future expectations. "New Space in the Courtyard" focuses on public areas with different sizes and natures at Hutongs, that is, crowded public areas from streets to courtyards at Hutongs, as well as new functions against the macro project backdrop. Recruitment content includes:

#2 Time-honored brand redesign

#3 Beijing Fang Public Arts Project


In alignment with the positioning of the "Chinese-style life experience zone", works are called for from the arts and design communities as well as major brands for a long period of time and will be showcased in a flexible manner in indoor and outdoor public areas at the neighborhood, including, but not limited to:
