This year marks the 15th anniversary since the DMY International Design Festival Berlin took place for the very first time within Design Mai. Ever since it has evolved constantly, through many relocations, reacting to economic ups and downs and last but not least to the ever changing designscape in Berlin, Germany and the entire world.

DMY started off 15 years ago with the goal to promote young talents and innovative designs. New ideas and extraordinary design approaches were presented and discussed at the highest level. In this sense unique, the festival has bult up a reputation at international scale.

Now it’s the time to halt. We have decided to take a break this year in order to put the economic pressure of the festival production aside and reinvent ourselves.

We want to focus even more strongly on the young generation, science and ideas: universities, colleges, young talents and founders.

The festival vibe has to reinvent itself through dialogue and discourse, existing and newly developed formats.  DMY wants to extend its position as the interface between young designs and the industry working closely with top-class firms leading to their substantial and interactive contribution.

To achieve this we need time, time to discuss, negotiate and find funding. Hence, the DMY International Design Festival Berlin will not be taking place in its usual format in 2017.

We would like to thank everyone who has been with us up until now and we are very excited about what’s to come.
