"Farewell to the Year of the Dragon, To Global Design Companions"

— Beijing  Design Week 2025 New Year Greetings

As the eaves of the Forbidden City catch the first dawn light,

Metaverse lanterns already illuminate Milan's streets—

This winding spirit serpent brings an Eastern key,

Unlocking future visions, co-painting a land of radiant renewal.

The Great Wall's stones engrave starlit whispers,

Su embroidery stitches time, shadow puppets narrate on blockchain;

Parisian Left Bank winds carry ink-wash algorithms,

While Yanjing's eight masterpieces gild the roots of the metaverse.

Behold! Discarded building materials dance in zero-carbon communities,

Bionic snake scales erect climate shelters over Antarctica;

Miao silver engravings now transform into wearable galaxies,

Each arc of light—a designer's love letter to Earth.

Now, Zhangjiawan's machines resonate with Milan's chisels,

AI-generated snowflakes shake from Shougang Park's robotic lion dancers;

From Chaozhou woodcarving's agarwood to Martian colony osmanthus,

Nostalgia and exploration fuse in design's crucible, polished like jade.

Let us sail with "ecological chains" as boats, "empathy" as sails,

Etching civilization on blockchain, annotating creation with biomimicry;

As the serpent year's bells cascade across time zones,

May creativity form an ouroboros of light—boundless, eternal, illuminating the cosmos!

Beijing  Design Week  Committee

Lunar New Year of Yi-Si, 2025

This year's Spring Festival greetings were composed by DeepSeek with a single prompt: "Write a poem on behalf of the Beijing International Design Week Committee to extend New Year wishes to global partners." DeepSeek R1, augmented by web search capabilities, completed the poem in 12 seconds after deep contemplation and analyzing 50 webpages. The poem captures the 2024 Beijing Design Week's global footprint and incorporates from last year's greetings—truly exceptional. We present it unedited, as DeepSeek's open-source innovation model aligns perfectly with the principles Beijing International Design Week has advocated and practiced over its 15-year history.

The English, French, and Italian translations were also generated by DeepSeek, which thoughtfully explained its linguistic considerations for achieving "faithfulness, expressiveness, and elegance"—a fascinating glimpse into AI-powered translation artistry.

The digital greeting card, created by Wen Xiaoyan, depicts a cyberpunk-inspired Beijing Central Axis on Lunar New Year's Eve: snowflakes cascade over a warm, luminous metropolis.

A new era begins.
